One of the most popular theories, UFO theory has two versions which both are very well known.  The first version claims that the formation of Crop circle is similar to UFO landing site reports where the swirling pattern of the flattened Crop is the mark of UFO landing on the Earth (Howe).  The idea of UFO space craft “landing and taking off vertically” explains the circular marks “appear in the middle of fields without any tracks leading to or from them” (Pantherfile).  The second version suggests that the crop circles are “not simple imprints made from landings,” but are messages from the alien that were written on the field using energy beam of the UFO (Pantherfile).  Both versions of UFO theories explain that the marks are left by the aliens to “chart their courses” to let the human to see, and to communicate with the human.  The reason that the UFO theories are the most popular is because it explains “the basic elements of Crop Circles,” such as the heat and energy that bents the crops in unique way and complicated patterns of the Crop Circle (pantherfile).  The UFO theory shows how the people used mythology to explain and overcome their fear of mystery.
